Tsumkwe

Tsumkwe, a small town of about 500 inhabitants, is situated in the northern Kalahari, in the Nyae Nyae Conservancy (it is about 300 km east of Grootfontein, and 60 km west of the Dobe border post leading to Botswana). It is the heart of the San population (also called Bushmen), the original inhabitants of Namibia. The drive to reach this area is long but worth it! The main activities are the discovery of the San culture, 4x4 excursions to the remote Khaudum National Park (known especially for its numbers of elephant and roan, as well as for its wilderness flair), as well as the visit of nearby baobabs and of the Nyae Nyae pan.
