Frans Indongo Lodge

Situated approximately 43 km north-east of Otjiwaorngo, Frans Indongo Lodge is host to 14 gorgeously decorated rooms and chalets, exuding the sense of life of Northern Namibia’s people in the most charming way. All the rooms and chalets, modelled on traditional Ovambo Homesteads, are giving guests the feeling of warmth and security of a home right in the middle of the African Bushveld. The lodge and chalets are built from materials like natural stone, wood, and reed that used for building houses in the Ovambo tribes.Items of daily use in the Ovambo tribe (e.g. earthen pots, voluminous storage baskets and original wooden figures) serve as decoration to emphasize the African theme – lending a very special charm to the lodge.

Three different types of accommodation are available, namely: 2 x double rooms, 2 x family units, and 8 x generously proportioned chalets. All of them are equipped with their own bathroom, air conditioning, fridge, hairdryer, telephone, television, and an electric kettle for tea and coffee.

The Frans Indongo Lodge terrace is the ideal setting for a leisurely ending to an eventful day, allowing you to enjoy a chilled drink while soaking up the reflection of spectacular hues of red over the sandstone rocks of the Waterberg Plateau on the side of the thorn bush savanna. The relaxing restaurant allows you to start your day with a scrumptious breakfast, enjoy a slice of cake for teatime – or indulge in truly Namibian cuisine in the evenings. After a long day in the Savanna Bushveld, you can bath in the sun whilst relaxing on the sundeck at the swimming-pool – watching a succession of Sable Antelope, Black Springbok and Nyala quench their thirst at the nearby watering hole.

During the day, you can explore various parts of the lodge and surroundings with the various activities available at the Frans Indongo Lodge. The main activity is a 2-hour game drive in the lodge reserve, where a wide range of animals can be spotted, including rhinos and black springboks. There are also, for the more adventurous guests, 3 unique foot trails of different lengths and difficulty, where you might just encounter an antelope or two on your hike. Other activities include self-drive excursions to the Waterbreg Plateau, as well as the visit of the CCF, the Cheetah Conservation Fund
